Is oil painting bad for the environment?

    Oil painting is bad for the environment if left over paint is not disposed of properly. They contain oil and should not be disposed of where they can end up in streams and groundwater.

    Mineral spirits and other solvents are definitely a health hazard.  They may cause brain damage over long exposures. Odorless mineral spirits have many of the hydrocarbons removed.  This improves their safety and lowers their environmental toxicity.
