How does the ocean process waste? I am not sure what you mean. The ocean cleans carbon out of the air through the waves crashing and capturing air. But as far as waste goes, the waste we dump in the ocean usually stays there, which can be seen by taking look at the North Pacific Gyre.
I would say the best waste processor nature has is the wetlands. Wetlands provide a barrier between dry land and water, and are characterized by have a water table at ground level. The various plants in wetlands are known to clean organic waste, such as solid animal waste.
