Is the nitrogen cycle and the water cycle connected?

Not directly.  The nitrogen cycle is the process of nitrogen changing from one chemical form to another by bacteria and plants.  The water cycle refers to water changing states of matter in the world, powered by the sun, as it travels from the ocean, to clouds, to rain and snowfall, and back to the oceans.  Nitrogen is an element not present in the chemical form of water (H2O), but the nitrogen cycle can at times be driven by processes such as evaporation and water runoff.
