The Nissan Leaf is currently being sold worldwide. Some markets are still waiting for release of the car, such as the Australian market in 2012 and South Africa in 2013. Success in Europe in 2011 has lead to an expansion of sales on the continent as well as creation of more charging stations.

Nissan Leaf won the award for 2011 World Car of the Year, beating the BMW 5-series and the Audi A8. No doubt this will continue to propel sales worldwide in countries where electric cars are feasible.
