By “this type” of energy, I’m guessing you mean green! And the answer is yes: clean, renewable energy provides 11 percent of New York’s needs. In 2009, the state’s goal was to increase that figure to 40 percent by 2010–or as soon as possible. Most of this is hydropower, with a little bit of wind and biogas in the mix. Solar power is still pretty small.
