Is natural history a branch of regular history or its own major?

It really depends upon the school. From the programs I looked through, it looks like natural history is its own major for the most part. However, some schools just make it a branch of regular history.

I’ve not heard of a ‘Natural History’ program or department, though I know Environmental History is an increasingly popular branch of History, particularly in the United States. Some have argued that ALL history is environmental history because no events occur inside a vacuum (all human events must include an interplay between humans and their land). My favorite graduate course was Environmental History, by far.
