As pertains to heating a home, natural gas is a cheaper option than propane.  Natural gas is measured in therms, whereas propane is measured in gallons.  One gallon of propane is equivalent to 0.91 therms.  Conversely, 1 therm is equivalent to 1.1 gallons.  A typical propane cost is one dollar and forty-nine cents per gallon.  A typical natural gas cost is eighty cents per therm.  Doing the math, propane is approximately twice as expensive as natural gas.
