Good question, Howardwong6, the answer is yes. About 98% of tap water in the US is treated by some sort of chlorination.
Tap water started getting treated with chlorine back in the early 1900s, and since then has been widely used in every major city. More recently, however, it has been critiqued and potential dangers have been highlighted. Despite these potential problems, the chlorination of tap water has been referred to as “probably the most important and efficient sanitary measure of protection ever introduced.”
Hope this helps!
