Is this most recent volcanic eruption actually good for the environment because it grounded a lot of planes?

    Probably not, since volcanic eruptions that are large enough to cause a no fly zone to be in effect emit a huge amount of ash and other materials. Those planes also ended up flying anyway, because people who couldn’t fly before still would need to reach their destination.

    But overall, volcanoes don’t emit nearly as many greenhouse gases as humans do. All volcanoes emit a total of 200 million tonnes of CO2 annually, yet humans emit 24 billion tonnes of CO2 each year.
