According to the International Energy Agency’s 2006 energy balance report, the world produces more coal energy than nuclear energy. In the year 2006, the world produced 3,076,946 thousand tonnes of oil equivalent of coal and peat energy. It only produced 728,415 thousand tonnes of oil equivalent of nuclear energy.
This means that for every thousand tons of nuclear energy, the world produced approximately 4.22 thousand tons of coal and peat energy.
