Is more energy used to cool my house or keep it at that level once its there?

    Generally speaking, it takes more energy to cool your house from initial to final temperature than to keep it at a steady temperature. However, this also depends on the temperature that you want to cool your house down to. It takes more energy to make your temperature go down from 90 to 65 but it would take much more energy to keep it constantly at 65 degrees. In that case, it would take less energy to keep it at a constant 75 degrees.

    It is recommended to keep your thermostat at 78 degrees and maybe raise it a few degrees gradually throughout the time you are in your house.
