More tigers in captivity than wild– is this an indictment of our zoos or of a failure to protect tigers in nature?

what I mean is– do you think we have too many tigers in zoos, or do you think we aren’t doing enough to protect tigers in the wild?

I think it’s the trouble with tigers remaining in the wild. The majestic cats are endangered on IUCN’s Red List, with two subspecies – Sumatran and South China – listed as critically endangered. In addition, three subspecies have gone extinct, one of which disappeared as recently as 1980’s. The biggest threats to tigers are habitat destruction and poaching for furs and traditional medicine.
