Sunlight reaches the other end of our atmosphere in a reduced state, it’s true. However, this is a good thing, because our atmosphere, and especially our ozone layer, blocks a lot of harmfull radiation from reaching earth, and this is what makes life possible. In fact, the earth receives enough sunlight to power the whole world (if it was all converted into electricity, which is not feasible, or even preferable). Electric energy from sunlight, is a function of how much sunlight solar cells on solar panels can turn into electricity. This is usually only a fraction of the light that hits them.
