Is electricity more expensive in the UK than it is in the United States?

For the average resident of the U.S., a month electric bill will be about $100. In the U.K., a person living in a detached or semi-detached house will have a bill that runs closer to the pound equivalent of $400. So at least for a person living in each country, the U.K. is more expensive.
