Yes. While in total percentage of greenhouse gas emissions, methane is emitted less than carbon, methane gas is more harmful for the atmosphere than carbon.
Just to be clear, methane is a chemical compound which contains elemental carbon atoms; its formula is CH4. When people refer to “carbon emissions” they are usually talking about carbon dioxide (CO2) but the term can include other harmful greenhouse gases, such as methane. Carbon dioxide has a global warming potential (GWP) of 1, and methane has a GWP of 72 (over 20 years), but, as bwsf said, it is emitted in smaller amounts.
