Is the melting of the ice caps dangerous?

One dangerous result of ice caps melting is the rising of sea levels.  Also, the raise in temperature that would cause ice caps and glaciers to melt would also cause thermal expansion in the oceans, which would in turn cause sea levels to rise.  The melting of ice caps can also be dangerous to the surrounding ecosystems, as a change is inevitable and may not be hospitable to the life that exists around them.
