is marble or granite better for the environment?

Marble and granite are both made from natural ingredients found in the earth. However, when choosing between the two, there are certain physical qualities to consider (aesthetically speaking, for interior decorating). It is said that granite is not easily stained, scratched, etc. AND, granite can be quarried locally. Which means that granite won’t need to be shipped from other countries. It is also said to ship easier than marble, and even if granite is being shipped from outside the country, it costs less and is more readily available than marble. In other words, there is more granite available than marble. It also holds up longer in kitchen and high-traffic uses, which means it will be replaced less often than marble, so in those sense, granite would be the optimum choice for the environment and your budget.
