Is the Maldives trying to become a green island?

The Maldives is trying to go carbon neutral within a decade.

It will try to achieve this goal through a variety of plans:

    1. Using wind and solar power instead of fossil fuels
    2. Buying and destroying EU carbon units to offset the environmental impact of tourists’ air travel
    3. Urging other nations to follow in its footsteps

The Maldives’ 200 inhabitants have good motivation to do so: as an island, it will continue to lose more and more of its land mass if the water level keeps going up!
