Is making a LEED platinum building a lot more expensive than making a regular LEED certified building?

Yes.  In order to attain LEED platinum status, a project must have between 52 and 69 points.  In order to achieve these points, certain additions may have to be made– additions that cost money.  For example, using certified sustainable wood as opposed to non-certified wood might incur extra costs.  Other points may cost no additional money.
