Deforestation in the Pacific Islands is due to logging, agricultural purposes, and fires. With the increase in population and the creation of more efficient tools, logging has taken out a large chunk of forests. Agriculture has taken out many forests as well, using the land for coconut, cocoa, and banana plantations. Finally, fires have taken out forest, too. Whether by natural causes or man-made, fires have contributed to deforestation in the Pacific Islands.
