Mayor Villaraigosa revealed the Green LA action plan on May 15, 2007 in hopes of decreasing the cities green house gas emissions by 35%. The main action of the plan is the have CA running on 40% renewable energy by 2020. Also with the plan, he proposed that Los Angeles takes part in green building that will “cut carbon emissions by more thatn 80,000 tons by 2012”. Hope this helped!
Yes. LA has a goal to get 40 percent of their power from renewable resources by 2020 and 60 percent carbon-free by 2030. They also have other environmental initiatives, including constructing city-owned buildings to LEED standards and retrofitting old ones to also meet LEED standards.
