Hand-washing dishes takes approximately 64 liters of water if washed in a filled sink; if they are washed under a running tap it can take up to 150 liters. A modern dishwasher uses about 15 liters per cycle. Therefore, if you have a full dishwasher it is much more efficient to run it than to wash your dishes by hand.
