lightning hit my large tree and scarred the side of it. will the tree survive or will it die?

the tree is huge and it has two strips down the side of it from the lightning. alot of people told me that it will die so i read some on it. what i read still did not quite answer my question. all i got from it was it may die or it may not. is is for sure that the tree will die?

    A tree’s survival from a lightening strike depends on the size of the tree. Some trees, however, begin decaying and cause more harm because they are more likely to collapse unexpectedly. Also, hiding near a tree during a lightening storm should be avoided because of the high current rupturing through the ground.
