The main difference between LEED certification and Energy Star is that Energy Star not only labels homes and buildings, but products as well. LEED certification is applicable specifically to buildings.
LEED certificates are awarded to commercial and residential buildings that were constructed with the goal of reducing CO2 emissions, maintaining the sustainability of resources, improving indoor air quality, and utlizing energy and water efficient technology. Star Energy basically identifies the same thing, awarding points for buildings that reduce emissions and energy consumption.
