Is lead the worst thing to come from products bought in stores?

Commercial products include many hazardous chemicals such as lead, cadmium, mercury, bromine, chlorine (PVC) and arsenic. Michigan’s Ecology Center examined 400 products using an X-ray fluorescence analyzer and found that the presence of toxic chemicals is “widespread in everyday consumer products.” An organization called Healthy Stuff looked at an even wider range of 5,000 products. Most of the results revealed more than healthy levels of lead in addition to PVC. It would not be out of the real of possibility to assume that lead could be the worst hazardous chemical in commercial products.
