    Hail is a type of solid precipitation made of lumps of irregular shaped ice. The largest hail recorded in the United States weighs 1.94 lbs with a diameter of 8 inches and was found in Vivian, South Dakota. The world record is a hailstone  in Bangladash found on April 14, 1986 with a weight of 2.24 lbs.
