Land use maintenance is a key factor in sustainability and energy efficiency. The Nature Conservancy published a study that delve into fossil fuels and renewable resources related to land use with predictions up to 2030. The report studies economics and policy with land use and habitat effects. What is most important is that we need to maximize energy efficiency while using as little land area as possible and reducing impacted areas.
I think the WAY in which land is used is the key to sustainability. Natural habitat rehabilitation, as well as greater restrictions on development and agricultural practices are ways that are immediately evident as necessary for long-term environmental health.
