Finding an exact amount to answer this question would be difficult. But imagine how much you spill on an average fill up of the lawn mower. Suspect that everyone else that owns a home in America spills that much too. Thinking about it, that would be a large quanity of fuel that is wasted and intergrated into the environment.
The EPA estimates roughly 17 million gallons of gas are dumped every year during lawn mower refueling. One way to reduce this amount is to switch over to electric lawn mowers, as the option is available. If this is not possible, those prone to spilling should invest in no-spill gas cans for their refueling efforts, as this 17 million gallons per year is an alarmingly large amount!
