Venezuela’s hydroelectric power generation is being threatened by a drought. President Hugo Chavez is taking measures to Guri Dam – the largest in the country – from falling below critical water levels. 73 percent of the country’s electricity is supplied by the Guri hydroelectric plant in the Caroni River in southeast Bolivar.
