If so, do you know what is the evolutionary reason for this?
The Santa Catalina Island Rattlesnake is a species of rattlesnake (crotalus catalinensis) that has no rattle. This snake is only found on the island of Santa Catalina off the coast of Baja. Its silence is an advantage it uses to sneak up on its prey, mainly birds, which it catches by climbing trees.
thank you for your help. what about female rattlesnakes? do they have rattlers? or is that just an urban legend?
