There’s no actual proof that climate scientists have fabricated data. It is more likely the statements were taken out of context in the media as an attempt for the skeptics of global warming to discredit the scientists.
There is no reason to think that any climate data has been made up. However, statistics allow the data to be analyzed in different ways. Different types of statistical analysis or analysis of only part of the data may show different trends which may appear to go against the theory that the global temperature is rising. The global temperature is not rising at a consistent rate, so as it rises and falls it is easy to find data that shows a decline where, in the long run, the temperature is actually rising.
Look at this. According to a recent Rasmussen report, 69% of Americans surveyed believe that it is at least somewhat likely that scientists have fabricated their data.
To answer your question, there has been some controversy and publicity because of alleged falsified climate data. Just before the Copenhagen Summit in 2009, the Climate Research Unit’s server was hacked and e-mails were released. Global warming deniers, or anthropogenic global warming deniers, claim that these e-mails support their theories that global warming is a hoax. Scientists say that the e-mails were taken out of context. I don’t know about you but I believe the scientists over the conspiracy theorists.
