Is it true that Kosher food requirements originally came from health risks of certain foods?

Eating Kosher simply means abiding by a number of restrictions on food/drink in the Torah’s legal passages. “These rules include details of the land and sea animals that we are allowed to eat as well as those that should be avoided. For instance, amongst the kosher laws found in the Torah is the stipulation to only eat ‘beasts of the earth’ that have cloven hooves and chew the cud.”
