Is it true the EPA doesn’t really track manufacturers with the EnergyStar label to make sure they’re up to code?

    Both the EPA and EnergyStar websites have a lot of information about their standards and how they are rated.  They also go into detail about the high standards to which inspectors are held.

    Neither site mentions how much authority inspectors have with their oversight.  I also had trouble finding anything about consequences for manufacturers who did not meet standards, which leads me to believe that they utilize voluntary recalls, a la FDA.

    Hopefully someone else can find better answers?
