Is it true that the colors you paint the interior and exterior of your home affect heating and cooling costs?

Think about whether you would be more comfortable on a hot day in a white or a black shirt. The color of a material does affect it’s ability to absorb heat. Darker colors will absorb and retain more energy, while lighter colors will reflect more energy. White roofs can have significant building cooling effects, as an example.
