There are many different types of solar panels. However if you are speaking of traditional rooftop PV (photovoltaic) panels then the answer is, it’s not recommended. Although the technology has gotten better, PV panels are in fact relatively fragile not to mention slippery.
But there is hope! There are companies that are manufacturing panels made for boating that are safe to walk on with soft shoes or barefoot. They are called “walkon” panels.
However it is also recommended that solar panels be put in places of extreme sunlight, like rooftops of course. Any shadow of the sun prevents the optimal usage of the product, therefore, if you are walking on your solar panels on a daily basis, you are lowering the efficiency…food for thought.
