Effects of climate change have already caused deaths up to 150,000 annually, according to the World Health Organization (WHO). If the predictions of climate change hold true, that number could probably increase to a frighteningly high level. Climate change may impact food production, leading to starvation and malnutrition. Climate change may increase the occurrence of extreme weather and flooding. Climate change may increase the spread of deadly diseases like malaria. Climate change may impact the availability of safe drinking water. Unfortunately, the poorest nations would likely suffer the most deaths and damage because they would not have the financial and political capacity to cope and adapt to the different conditions of climate change.
