There are some carbon saving tips you can do easily. However, there are very few things that will save 1 ton of CO2 by themselves. Some examples of doable things that can save 1 ton is driving 3,000 miles less a year. The following link provides a few other things.

An average person produces 26 tons of CO2 per year, so in order to cut back by 1 ton, you would have to cut off 1/26 of your energy usage. This can be done in a number of ways, however the most straightforward would likely be to drive considerably less. Some trees (older larger trees) can also absorb a fairly significant amount of CO2, just to look at emissions from the other side.
