is it possible to make a battery-powered electric motor that charges its own battery?

more specifically, on a small scale. something like an mp3 player, where the spinning of the hard drive charges its battery. i don’t even know if this is possible, since i don’t know much about electronics, but i was just curious.

While something is moving it is more efficient if there isn’t anything slowing it down. Anything added to the moving part to “charge” something will add drag and consume more, beating the propose. Dynamos are one example how it might work, used on bicycles, but there the main source of energy is the human, that powers the bike that powers the dynamo, but it’s not recovering the energy. Kinetic Energy Recovery Systems used in modern hybrids can charge batteries but these work while braking, or downhill where excess energy is made and these devices can capture them.
