Is it our fault that so many species are endangered?

We are certainly accelerating the rate at which many species are becoming endangered because of human encroachment and over development of many natural habitats. Nearly all evidence points to humans as the cause for the increase in endangered animals. However, we should keep in mind that species going extinct is a natural part of evolution; 99.9 percent of all species to ever live on Earth are now extinct. Species going extinct, while tragic, is not cause for alarm. However, the rates at which they are going extinct now certainly signify a massive shift in the way species will have to adapt to survive with the threats of global climate chnage and human expansion.
