It is healthy to take a siesta during the day of about 20 minutes. Any longer will make it harder for you fall asleep at night. It recharges and refreshes you after a long day and is good for the body.

Taking a short nap between 10 and 30 minutes can help improve alertness, reaction times, and mood.  “A nap lasting 30 minutes or longer is more likely to be accompanied by sleep inertia, which is the period of grogginess that sometimes follows sleep.”  And taking a nap of 60 to 90 minutes has the same effect on the body as nighttime sleep, which can help improve learning.
