Both American crocodiles and alligators are endangered species but while the crocodile remains so endangered that hunting them is illegal in the U.S. the endangered level of the alligator has been downgraded thus making it legal now to hunt them in small numbers just to keep them from being a “nuisance”. To hunt them one must have an Alligator Hunting License, only hunt them during a short period of allotted hunting time (about a month), use certain methods and weapons, and the limit is usually one to two alligators.
