Is it easier to feed a population if they are dense?

Historically, it has in fact been more difficult to feed dense populations. Oftentimes, the land just cannot handle growing enough food for huge amounts of people. Crops depleat the land of natural minerals of crops are not rotated properly or the wrong crop is planted. Currently, the dense population of the United States is not having any difficulty feeding itself- we are one of the most obese populations in the world!!
