Is it difficult to get tickets to spend the winter solstice at the megalithic tomb in Newgrange, Ireland?

Extremely. Tickets are handed out by lottery: only fifty people win tickets a year, and each winner is allowed one guest, for a total of only 100 people seeing the solstice sunrise shine in from the entrance of the tomb. In 2007, over 28,000 people entered the lottery: in 2009, nearly 33,000. The drawing is held in September. What’s more, it seems that the only place to pick up an application to join the lottery is at the Bru na Boinne Visitor Centre, though you can get in touch with them by email and ask them nicely to fill out a form for you. Check out the second link below. Good luck!
