Is it dangerous to use an explosion to try and plug the oil leak?

It is still seeping right?

I thought a cap was placed over the leak, but I am unsure if it was successful. Either way, an explosion would be an extremely dangerous method of closing the leak. It may trigger other rock formations to move, it could potentially make the problem worse if unsuccessful, and it is in a tricky spot, being underwater. It is dangerous enough on land.

BP was successful in capping the oil leak on July 15th.  This link is to another topic about the capping of the oil spill.
