Is it cheaper to make wind power or solar power on a large scale?

Wind power is currently cheaper than solar power. Its price has dropped 40% since the 80s. $2 billion spent annually powers 1.5 million homes, a small number compared to the rest of country, but one on the rise. Solar power, though currently more expensive, is declining of price. More varied options for solar are ultimately available, because a private homeowner can more readily access solar energy for their house. A competitive race between the two to develop cheaper, more widespread power is certainly good for business, and good for the consumer.
