If the distance is the same either way (say you’re walking or cycling to the library from your house), you should burn about the same calories. However, biking allows you to move a lot faster than you would walking. If you estimate a certain amount of time to get to the library walking, you can use the extra time you have biking to take an extra lap around the block or a park. This helps you burn a few more calories. Either way, you’re exercising, it just depends on how fast you want to go about it.
