In most cases, it’s better to use a microwave. Although the microwave uses more power to run than an oven does, people usually use the microwave for much less time. So, it is better to heat portions of food in a microwave, since an oven will take longer and thus use more energy. According to Energy Star, cooking small portions or reheating food in the microwave can save up to 80% of the energy used if you reheated in the oven. If you don’t like the way things taste after being heated in a microwave, maybe consider buying a small toaster oven.
