Airdrying your clothing and ironing it definitely uses less electricity than running the dryer. You can get exact numbers by checking the wattage of your appliances – so, the wattage of your dryer TIMES the amount of time the dryer runs, compared against the wattage of your iron TIMES the amount of time you spend ironing your clothing.
Dryers can have be between 1800 and 5000 watts (compared to washers at 350-500), while an iron is generally 1000 – 1800 watts.
