Snoring in itself can indicate other health concerns. The British Snoring and Sleep Aponoea Association lists ten main reasons for snoring. Snoring may indicate allergies, use of sleeping pills or alcohol, overeating and lack of exercise. It can also be caused by sleeping position, smoking, mouth breathing, a stuffy nose, small or collapsing nostrils or tongue breathing. Snoring can also be the result of several of these combined factors. Vibrations from long term snoring can cause damage to the airway muscles and nerves and can be demonstrative of a more serious condition known as sleep apnoea and should be treated.

Yes, snoring can lead to further health issues. According to the latest research, snoring can be a condition that can promote an even greater a health risk. The sound occurs when the flow of air from the mouth or nose to the lungs makes tissues in the airway vibrate, usually because of an obstruction or a narrowing of the airway. The more the airway closes or is blocked, the harder the body has to work to push air outward. This then causes puts pressure on the heart. One later effect could even be high blood pressure.
