The scientific name for the Indian cucumber is Medeola virginiana. There have been a few medicinal uses for the plant, including the relief of edema and treatment of childhood convulsions. Its distinctive features include the whorl formation of the plant’s leaves, which resemble a trillium. Here is a photo of the root portion of the plant.
